About Stephen...
Stephen has 35 years experience in business, managing people for 30 of those years. To add to this solid practical experience Stephen has added a Masters in Management and diplomas in accounting and marketing to his qualifications as a Chartered Engineer.
His management responsibilities have covered a wide range of people and tasks. He has been an executive Director on the Board of a medium sized company.
Stephen’s interest in people grew out of the contrast between engineering tasks which obey laws of a linear relationship and people management tasks which are more complex, non-linear and multi-dimensional.
The research for the Masters, a piece of numerate social science research, revealed the negative impact of a new ancillary payment system. The extra money was making things worse!
This was counter-intuitive and led to much research on human behaviour and the intra-personal communication that affects it.
Many years later Stephen has developed a management system that makes people want to work. Social scientists and Behaviourists will argue with that and it’s true you cannot make people want to work, only create the conditions to let them choose.
However Stephen argues that any business or organization will only survive if everyone is working effectively because the management is inspiring their achievement.
