Q. We run a factory and the work is pretty repetitive. How do we motivate our staff to ensure greater accuracy? Posted 28th July 2006
Let’s start with the premise that people want to do a good job. The manager’s job is to find the barriers to their doing a good job and facilitating their removal.
Make sure the staff have knowledge of the factory output, give them some say in the design of the processes. Cultivate their interest when ever you can.
Discuss failure quietly and praise success loudly, a small celebration helps too!
Make it enjoyable, make it theirs and they will take on the task and enjoy it.
