Frequently Asked Questions Answered

Q. I’ve spent time and money training my staff, how do I stop them leaving? Posted 30th July 2006

Sadly you can’t stop them, but you can raise a barrier against them leaving.

A good motivational workplace provides excellent non-financial benefits that have a real value to add to the salary.

This will create an unwillingness to leave but if salary is way out of line with his or her peers then the de-motivators are very strong. Similarly if an employee needs more money for a lifestyle issue, marriage, mortgage or new baby, then that strikes at the fundamental security motivation aspect.

But make it a great place to work, provide personal growth opportunities and people will be very reluctant to leave.
