Q. Can you offer any information on weight loss motivation, I am a member of a Health Club and would be grateful for any additional help? Posted 4th October 2006

Although we are not experts in health care or dieting we like to help everyone.

Motivation for weight loss involves many emotions. You have to ask yourself why do you want to lose weight. Some of the answers to this question will be the motivation itself.

When it isn’t, then one has to look elsewhere. Being part of a team can be a great help, which is why companies who create this group support can be so successful. A team is a group of people with the same target as yourself. Can you create your own team or, maybe, join an existing group.

Another way to motivate yourself is to change your mindset. This is not an easy thing to do. May I suggest you read Stephen Covey’s book, “The habits of highly effective people”? I have just looked for it on Amazon and it is on special offer at the moment!

Take advice from the trainers at your health club and, to reiterate what is said by the experts, always take advice from your doctor!
